Oh, yeah! I totally did that when I was growing up, too. Cookies and milk...pretty nostalgic, but never gets old, am I right?
[ the mason jar cups are a really cute touch, and she thinks that this place gets cozier by the minute. she looks towards the door and can see some leaves and grass peeking from behind the door, then she looks back at him. living here seems nice. it's quite the opposite of where she's currently staying. jonas' place is just enough for one or two people. sylvia's practically living in a mansion. ]
My place is pretty huge, but that's because I live with four other people. It's got a music room, and a working fountain in the middle of the house! It's actually super fancy. But... I like it here, too.
[ she looks towards the living room and peeks at the fireplace. ]
I think living in a smaller place has its own perks, too. My mom and I lived in a small apartment together until I turned eighteen, so when I started living in all these big places, it was kinda like culture shock in a way. Y'know?
(oh, doesn't he know it. it sounds to him like sylvia and her mother weren't too well off, which brings him around to feeling a certain kinship with her. his family struggled too, when a small house was all they could afford. despite that, those were the best years of his life. spending time, all together at the dinner table.
jonas misses that, but gives sylvia a sympathetic smile.) Oh, don't I know it. We had this dumpy duplex. The neighbours were so loud. (a light chuckle, remembering all the arguments he could make out with his ear against the wallβamong other things. what a fucking disaster.)
I'll have to come check your pad out sometime. I'm having a hard time, like, envisioning a whole fountain in there, but I'm ready to be blown outta' the water by it... n-no pun intended. Jesus. (offering her a glass of milk after it's poured and stored back inside the magitech fridge. really a larder fashioned into one, which works for them all things considered.) Did you like living with your mom?
I know some teenagers just do not get on with their parents, so I gotta' ask.
[ they were better off once sylvia became an agent -- the supernatural equivalent of a police officer in her world -- because she was paid very handsomely. still, though, while sylvia lived in a fancy house as part of the job, her mom kept the small apartment they used to live in. sylvia moved back in once she left, and found that she missed how quaint her apartment was, to say nothing of how much she missed her mother's company. ]
Yeah, my mom's the best -- we get along really well! I'm pretty lucky in that regard. She did a lot for me growing up. [ she's happy when she says it. clearly, she thinks highly of her mother. ] How about you?
And pun totally intended, am I right? [ a laugh, then: ] You're welcome to visit my place some other time, too. I'm sure the others won't mind, you're good company!
That's awesome. I was close with my mom, too. (more than content to discuss it, but being away from his dad's been wearing on him. it's subdued, albeit present in his expression, choosing instead to tilt his head towards the rest of the cottage.) My dad and I get on, but he's pretty helicopter-y now. For good reason, of course, he's... uh, protective? I guess.
Thanks, though... I'd love to drop in, say "hi." Are they cool, the people you live with?
(most people he's met are pretty chill, bless their hearts. it's strange living with others and it takes some getting used to, but jonas has come to really appreciate stiles' presence. he takes a sip of his milk, tongue catching the foam left on his upper lip.)
[ sylvia nods in understanding, but makes no mention of her own father. she had no father figure in her life, growing up. she's not sure if she should be envious or not, because she doesn't feel like she is. she's happy and proud to have been raised by her mother. good on jonas for having a good (?) relationship with both of them, though -- that makes her smile. ]
They're super cool. I don't think there's anyone in the house who would be, like, really mean to you or anything. Maybe awkward at most, but they're totally cool with visitors.
[ the name "stiles" doesn't sound familiar, though. she shakes her head. ]
No, I don't think so. What's he like? If he's cool, you should introduce us!
Stiles is... huh, well, first of all, really chatty. I don't think you guys'd have a problem getting along. (honestly, they'd probably hit it off. sylvia seems the kind-souled sort and there's no disliking that.) He's smart, too; I can't keep up with him. Maybe you'll be able to.
(shrugs a shoulder.)
We'll have to have a little shindig or something. I'll bring him and we can meet all your buddies. How does that sound?
We met here, a few days in. He responded to my roommate ad and we got this place together. (her mood is infectious. jonas finds himself caught up in it, smiling to himself with a motion to the living room. they can sit, drink their milk, eat their cookies, and chatter on.
takes up a seat on the couch, flopping down with a precarious balancing of his half full glass.)
You got any buddies here? Like, from home? Not many people come in with people from their world, but I've known a few who have. Can't say I'd like it if anyone I knew arrived, but that's because I wouldn't want them to get wrapped up in this place's shit. Y'know?
Man, you guys lucked out, huh? Not everyone gets along with their roommates. [ she would know...ha...ha. anyway, she's happy to sit next to him and start dipping one of her cookies into some milk.
she stills her hand when he asks his question, because she's excited to talk about bailey. she's so glad he asked! ]
I sure do! Their name's Bailey -- tall, long hair that's a little messy...not a good descriptor, I know, but they're super chill. One of the chillest people I know! We met pretty recently back at home, but I'd say we're pretty good friends already.
[ she can't help but consider what jonas says, though, about not wanting them to get wrapped up in this place's issues. she...hadn't really thought of that. huh. ]
I think they're doing okay here. They probably worry more about me than I worry about them.
Sounds like we're both pretty lucky, then, huh? Finally got some good friends and, honestly, (cramming a cookie into his mouth, trying to chew quickly so he can keep talking,) Geardagas may have its issues but, like, it's been pretty welcoming all things considered.
You and Bailey'll do alright. I'm glad you've got them to rely on. And them, you.
(that makes things so much easier.)
If you two ever need any magic stuff done up, like runes or whatever, I'm your witch. Feels kinda' weird calling myself that, but I guess I gotta' get with the times. "Witch" is just as cool as "wizard." You geared up for your bunny changes?
Ahaha, you have a point! I'm glad I have them too...but I hope I can rely on other people too, you know? Like you!
[ because you two are now tomodachi in her book. she is very, very fond of him. ]
Thanks, Jonas, for the offer! That's really nice of you. I'll let them know, and y'know, that'll be good to keep in mind. Our house is like, five monsters and no witches, so we're pretty limited on what we can do.
[ and that's probably not a good idea, especially considering how full moons can be, but she loves her house fam and wouldn't trade them for anything. expand on it? sure. but nobody's getting kicked out. ]
Meh, I dunno. I'm not looking forward to them, but I'm kind of just at that point of accepting whatever's gonna happen. ... Man, that sounds pretty bleak, huh?
